5 Ways to Boost Your Health This May

As the days grow longer and flowers bloom, May is the perfect month to refresh your wellness routine. Warmer weather and seasonal produce offer a natural opportunity to shift into healthier habits. Here are five ways to take advantage of the season and give your mind and body a gentle reset:
1. Get Outside and Move
With mild temperatures and longer daylight hours, May is ideal for outdoor activity. Whether it’s walking, gardening, biking, movement in nature reduces stress, improves sleep, and boosts mood.
Try this: Aim for 30 minutes of outdoor activity 5 times a week.
2. Eat Seasonally
Seasonal foods are fresher, more nutritious, and often more affordable. In May, fill your plate with:
- Strawberries – rich in vitamin C and antioxidants
- Asparagus – supports detoxification and gut health
- Leafy greens – packed with fiber, iron, and folate
Simple tip: Add a handful of fresh greens and strawberries to your next smoothie.
3. Declutter Your Mind
Spring cleaning isn’t just for your closet. Clear mental clutter by journaling, or simply setting boundaries around screen time. A refreshed mind supports better decision-making, relationships, and resilience.
Quick practice: Start each morning with 5 minutes of deep breathing or gratitude journaling.
4. Hydrate with a Purpose
Warmer weather increases your hydration needs. Instead of just tracking glasses of water, make it enjoyable:
- Add sliced citrus, mint, or cucumber
- Drink herbal teas (iced or warm)
- Eat water-rich foods like watermelon and cucumber
5. Protect Your Skin
As sun exposure increases, so does the risk of skin damage. Use a daily SPF of 30 or higher, wear hats and sunglasses, and don’t forget to hydrate your skin with nourishing moisturizers.
Overview:
May is a natural turning point—a chance to realign with your goals and nurture your health. Small changes add up, so choose one tip above and start there. Your body and mind will thank you!
